Meredith King

Meredith King is an experienced insolvency and commercial litigator representing companies of all sizes in workout, restructuring, and enforcement actions in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts. She has represented financial institutions, receivers, judgment creditors, court appointed fiduciaries, general contractors, real estate owners and developers, and business owners at all stages of the litigation, successfully assisting them in navigating complex, multi-party matters.

Meredith is an active member of the San Diego insolvency bar and is dedicated to promoting the highest standards of competence and professionalism in the legal field. She has organized programs, spoken and written on topics such as representing debtors in Chapter 11 reorganizations, promoting professionalism in complex and hotly contested litigation, legal ethics, reaffirming debts in bankruptcy, the discharge of student loans, the scope and application of the automatic stay, unenforceable penalties in commercial loan agreements, and understanding the role of finance and accounting analysis in commercial litigation.

Prior to joining Franklin Soto Leeds, LLP, Ms. King was an associate attorney at one of San Diego’s oldest and most distinguished law firms and served as the Hon. Margaret M. Mann’s career law clerk for almost five years. She graduated cum laude from Smith College and magna cum laude from California Western School of Law, receiving Academic Merit and Creative Problem-Solving scholarships. During law school, she was the Executive Editor of Lead Articles for the California Western Law Review and interned at the Department of Justice, Tax Division in Washington, D.C., where she assisted in litigating appeals on behalf of the United States in the Ninth and Eleventh Circuits.

Ms. King is a member of the California Lawyers Association’s Business Law Section Insolvency Law Committee, where she is serving as the Chair of the Publications Subcommittee. She is a member of the Louis M. Welsh American Inn of Court and is on the California Bankruptcy Forum’s 2023 Insolvency Conference Leadership Committee. She formerly served President of the San Diego Bankruptcy Forum and has been a member of the Lawyers Club of San Diego since 2015.
